Admission requirements
Undergraduate programs
To be admitted to an undergraduate program at Université Laval, you must have 13 years of study in an appropriate field. Université Laval recognizes the general upper secondary education certificate (French Community) as equivalent to this requirement, even though it only corresponds to 12 years of study.
Graduates with a general upper secondary education certificate from the French Community of Belgium are directly eligible for undergraduate programs, except for those in the following faculties:
- Faculty of Forestry, Geography and Geomatics (except certificates and bachelor’s degrees in geography and sustainable land development)
- Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences (except bachelor programs in agronomics and consumer sciences)
- Faculty of Science and Engineering
A qualifying year is required for programs in these faculties. In all cases, you will need to apply directly to your desired program.
Graduate programs
To be admitted to a graduate program, you must hold the minimum diploma required and meet the admission requirements for your particular degree program.

Limited enrolment and limited space programs also have specific admission requirements to consider.
